what SPECIALTIES of Physiotherapy do you cover?

what locations do you cover for Physiotherapy home visits?

I am based in Bridport, Dorset and cover surrounding villages as far as Charmouth, Winterbourne Abbas and Crewkerne.

What type of pilates do you teach?

I am fully certified in APPI Matwork - Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute. I teach my classes under my Physiotherapy Registration. This gives me greater choice with exercises and modifications, allowing me to individually adapt them for you.

I have completed further training in Pilates for Osteoporosis, Pilates for Runners and Pilates for Children.

I am a Pink Ribbon Post Rehabilitative Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist.

WHY APPI?

The APPI founders felt that many traditional Pilates courses lacked the depth of movement retraining, specificity and research base to ensure a standard of exercise that was safe and effective for anyone. APPI Pilates is a modified Pilates that is more refined and research based making it safe and effective for anyone.

What is pilates?

The Pilates method is essentially a mind body centering technique that emphasises the importance of beginning movement from a central core of stability, namely your lumbo-pelvic region. From this central core, the Pilates method works by adjusting the intensity of each exercise through the use of differing length levers (various limb movements) and resistance (use of Pilates equipment).

what size are your PILATES classes?

I keep my Pilates classes small, with a maximum of 12 mats.

Do i need to bring a mat?

No - I provide most equipment for you, however if you would prefer to bring your own mat or purchase any of your own small equipment to use in class you are welcome to. You can purchase directly from me or please feel free to ask me for any advice on what to buy.

You will need your own resistance band and please bring a small cushion or towel to fold for your head support in class.

what should i wear?

Clothes that are comfortable but not too loose fitting so that I can keep an eye on your posture and alignment. Grip socks or bare feet.

Why do you run as a course?

I run my Pilates classes as a course as the exercises progress week to week and you will gain much more in your Pilates journey with regular attendance.

do you charge as a course?

I do charge as a course but when possible I have a floating space in each class. If there is a class you can’t make you may be able to attend one of my other classes to make up the lost class. During Covid-19 an online Pilates class will be offered as an alternative.
